Preview is more than just a moment. It is the event that sets a course for a whole new world. The University of Florida is excited to welcome you to its thriving community. The transition to life at UF can be both an exciting and challenging time. Your new student transition experience will help you successfully prepare for your college transition. Transfer Preview is a required, robust program that provides you the core resources to start your Gator journey.

Registration Steps for Preview

Transfer Students & Families will register for a one-day session at UF. Each session is designed to provide information about your transition to UF, assist you in registering for classes, and help you navigate your Gator student experience.

Preview will consist of one-day of information and activities, which begins at 8:00 am and concludes around 5:00 pm for both students and their registered family members.

STEP 1

Ensure that you have your active GatorLink username and password – for assistance, please visit gatorlink.ufl.edu.
Note: if you are setting up your GatorLink account for the first time, you may have to wait 1-business day before being able to register for Preview.

STEP 2

Log into the registration system via the Preview registration system.

STEP 3

Select an available session that best fits your schedule.

STEP 4

Pay your Preview costs with a major credit card through our online registration system.

Once you log in to the registration system you will be provided with different dates based on your individual admissions decision; you will be given a variety of dates to choose from.

WHAT TO EXPECT AT PREVIEW

During your Preview experience you will spend a few hours engaged in intentional academic, major and career planning. To achieve this goal, you will work with College Advisors and undergraduate Preview Staffers to learn the necessary steps to for graduation. To accomplish this, you will work with a small group of no more than fourteen fellow Gators to discover your academic goals and the path to accomplish them. The goal of Preview is that you leave empowered to be as successful as possible on day one.

GENERAL PREVIEW SCHEDULE

Preview is a one-day orientation during which you will register for classes, explore campus, interact with current students and faculty members, and much more. Check-In on will begin at 8:00 am and the day will conclude around 5:00 pm once you have met with an advisor.

Prior to attending Preview, it is important that you complete the following steps.

SUBMIT YOUR IMMUNIZATION RECORDS

Please submit your immunization records through the Student Self-Service Portal at least three weeks prior to your Preview session. https://healthcompliance.shcc.ufl.edu/immunization-requirement/immunizations

Apply for your GatorONE ID

(Open early April) Every member of the UF community has a GatorONE ID, which is the official identification of the University of Florida. Apply for yours at my.bsd.ufl.edu

Yes, all new students are required to complete orientation. Through orientation, students will meet with an academic advisor, can register for classes, and learn how to be a successful Gator in and out of the classroom.

Transfer Preview will be delivered in person in the Reitz Union, available for students and families during specific dates. There are no virtual options.

Preview will consist of one day of information and activities, which begins at 8:00 am and concludes around 5:00 pm. Preview is designed to provide information about your transition to UF, assist you in registering for classes, and help you navigate your Gator student experience.

In accordance with Florida State Statute, students are charged an orientation fee of $35. Family members and guests are welcome to attend and cost $95 per guest.

Overnight on-campus accommodations are unfortunately not available for students, guests, and family members during Transfer Preview.

When you make your reservation for orientation, you will have the option to pay with a credit card. Credit card is our preferred method of payment.

The University of Florida holds and releases spaces in critical courses for each Preview session. It does not matter which session you attend because all Preview participants have an equal opportunity to register for classes.

If you attend Transfer Preview before you receive your scores or final grades, you will estimate your scores at orientation, and your college advisor will assist you in registering for the appropriate courses. If your scores or grades turn out to be different than anticipated, you can contact your College advisor after Transfer Preview for schedule adjustments.

Family members are an important role in the transition of their students. With Preview being in person, our family members will also be able to learn about UF and engage with our campus partners. We will have a series of speakers about academics, financial aid, housing, and more through the formal Preview program. Additionally, we will host a Q&A session.

No. Academic advising appointments and other sessions are designed specifically for students. Family members who try to sit in an individual student’s session will be asked to leave.

In the event of a conflict with a session for which you have a registered, please log into your reservation to change your session date. Please note we will not be able to place you in a session that has closed or is filled to capacity so please make sure to register for a session you are able to attend. You can click on “Register” on the main orientation menu to view changes to your registration.

Students and guests should wear comfortable clothing and walking shoes. Umbrellas are also encouraged, as it often rains in Gainesville.

Yes, your immunization paperwork should be submitted prior to your virtual session date. Immunization paperwork can be found on the Health Compliance website (https://healthcompliance.shcc.ufl.edu/immunization-requirement/immunizations). If you are concerned about not being able to submit your immunization paperwork on time, please e-mail our office at newstudentinfo@dso.ufl.edu.

Please click on the “Register” link and log back into the registration website to see if your payment has been processed. If you did not pay online and it has been more than 15 working days since you mailed your check and it has not been processed, please check with your bank to see if the check has cleared. If the check has cleared and we have not processed it, email us at newstudentinfo@dso.ufl.edu. Include your name, UFID, check number, and name on the check or money order

Student waivers are available and granted to eligible students who have demonstrated financial need. They are available on a first-come-first-serve basis. Financial need/waiver eligibility is typically demonstrated through a completed FAFSA application showing a zero expected family contribution, Pell Grant Eligibility, or other forms of financial assistance. Since the number of waivers is limited, students who meet the qualifications are not guaranteed a waiver, if all waivers have been awarded. All waivers will be reviewed and warded by May 12, 2023.
